Dr. Erica Ortiz is a 1999 graduate of the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Erica began working at McDonough Animal Hospital in June, 2005, and purchased the practice in March, 2007. Her particular interests are small animal surgery and dentistry. Dr. Ortiz enjoys caring for many different types of pets, including dogs, cats, rabbits, rats, guinea pigs, and hamsters.
Dr. Erica resides in Henry County with her husband, two children, and a menagerie of pets, including dogs, cats, rabbits, pot-bellied pigs, chickens, and two horses! When she is not working, she enjoys reading, horseback riding, and outdoor adventures.
Dr. Sara Smith is a 2013 graduate of Mississippi State College of Veterinary Medicine who joined us in June, 2013. She not only loves caring for our small animal patients, but she also treats large animals, including horses, goats and other small ruminants, cattle, or any other farm animals. Yogi Pfeifer is our fabulous Front Desk Manager, and it is her smiling face that greets our clients as they walk through our front doors. Michelle Cain is one of our awesome team of receptionists, and is likely the first voice you will hear when you call us on the phone. Michelle has worked for McDonough Animal Hospital for 18 years, beginning as a veterinary assistant in 1996. Nicole Shields is one of our veterinary technicians. She has been with us since 2014, She has one daughter and many fur babies including 2 cats, four horses, mini horse, two pigs and many chickens.
Nezlee Pillow is a part of our front office staff and receptionist. She is one of the first voices you hear when you call our office. In addition to receptionist responsibilities she is also available for your Large Animal questions and appointments. She first started to work here in 1985. She has one daughter and two grandchildren, 2 horses, 2 dogs.
